‘Made me feel welcome’: Brennan Johnson says 27-year-old Tottenham player is one of his best mates at Spurs

Brennan Johnson arrived at Tottenham at the very last minute in the summer.

The Wales international was a deadline day signing for Spurs, and when you arrive so late in a summer transfer window it can often be difficult to settle.

Indeed, pre-season is over and players are incredibly focused on their game rather than socialising at that point, and it may have been difficult for Johnson to get to grips with life at Spurs.

However, according to the attacker, it was actually quite easy to settle at Tottenham, and speaking to Stadium Astro, he’s named the player who helped him most when he first came to the club.

The Tottenham player who helped Brennan Johnson

Johnson stated that James Maddison was a player who really helped him settle at Spurs.

“I think I would say James Maddison. He was at Leicester last season and I was at Nottingham. We both lived in similar areas and we have a lot of common things about us, me and him get on really well, and he definitely made me feel welcome at the start,” Johnson said.

James Maddison is a great character

James Maddison is a fantastic player, and, by the sounds of it, he’s also a great character.

There’s a reason Ange Postecoglou quickly installed Maddison as one of his vice captains at Tottenham, the England international is a brilliant player behind the scenes at Spurs, and it sounds as though he really goes out of his way to help his teammates in any way they need.

Maddison has really helped Johnson settle, and it’s really helped his form improve over the past few months.

Johnson was Tottenham’s biggest signing of the summer, and that hefty investment starting to pay dividends now as Johnson continues to grow in confidence at Tottenham.
