"Bit random": 21-year-old player says he was taken aback by what Crystal Palace told him in January

One current Crystal Palace loanee has now shared his thoughts over what he was told in January by the club chiefs.

January saw Crystal Palace busier than many assumed they would be as both Daniel Munoz and Adam Wharton arrived.

These deals are both looking like excellent pick-ups so far as they’re becoming key players under Oliver Glasner.

But while they arrived there were a few players who departed on loan too.

There was even one player who has left on loan but had to wait until March for it to happen, now he’s shared how he’s been feeling about his move and his initial reaction to interest.

Luke Plange shares initial thoughts on HJK Helsinki loan

In March, 21-year-old Palace striker Luke Plange headed out on loan to HJK Helsinki, with a Palace link already at the club in Aki Riihilahti.

Now, he’s been speaking to Finnish outlet MTV Uutiset about how he’s felt over the move, particularly how he reacted when Palace informed him of interest.

“Palace and my agent came to tell me one day that HJK would be interested. It was a bit random. I had to think about it for a moment.

“To be honest, I didn’t know much about HJK and it was something completely new to me. New country, new series, new club.

“I needed to put things into perspective. However, I came to this decision because the experience seems good. The club is one of the best in Finland.”

Playing for a dominant side like HJK will only be good for a young striker as he should be handed goal scoring opportunities galore.

How has Crystal Palace loanee Luke Plange played for HJK?

Since making the move last month, Plange has made just one appearance, with the league only just kicked off.

It was a 3-1 loss to league leaders Kuopion Palloseura with Plange struggling to make much of an impact in his 89 minutes.

He will be playing his second game – hopefully – on Thursday afternoon with a 4 pm UK kick-off time against FC Lahti.

It’s definitely a game worth keeping an eye on to see if he grabs his first goal.
