Crystal Palace could soon sign £20m striker Raheem Sterling called "fastest man in the world" - amid reports

One thing Oliver Glasner currently lacks in his Crystal Palace squad is a bit of speed.

The Austrian clearly wants to play an attacking style of football, in which quick passes are hit forward into space left by opponents, such as the move which saw Jean-Philippe Mateta score against Manchester City on Saturday.

However, amid injuries to Michael Olise and Matheus Franca, our attack hasn’t really got going just yet, as Ebere Eze, Mateta and Jordan Ayew appear to be too slow to make Glasner’s system most effective.

Now – however – it seems Dougie Freedman is looking to solve that issue by injecting a bit of pace into the frontline at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace exploring Armando Broja move

Well, the South London Press believe Odsonne Edouard could be sold this summer, and even if the Frenchman does not depart, it feels like a new striker could be signed anyway.

There have been reports linking us with a move for FC Basel No.9 Thierno Barry, while that aforementioned story from the South London Press also claimed that Oumar Diakite of Stade Reims is a target.

Now – according to Ben Jacobs – Freedman is also looking at Armando Broja.

The Chelsea striker – currently on loan at Fulham – finds his future at Stamford Bridge clouded in uncertainty, having played just 54 minutes of Premier League football at Craven Cottage.

Jacobs revealed that Crystal Palace intend to offer a maximum of £20m for the Albania international – a figure which could tempt Chelsea to sell, as the Blues run the risk of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

Pure speed

Very few people actually associate Broja with being quick – given his bulky 6ft 3in frame.

However – according to Raheem Sterling – Crystal Palace could actually sign the “fastest man in the world” this summer.

That is what the England international told Ian Wright while speaking on UMM.

Sterling said: “Fastest man in the world. When people see him properly… yeah. I’ve heard a lot about him before but never really watched him. He’s the truth.”

As things stand, Broja has a lot to prove and needs somewhere to settle, although nobody can deny he is a talented forward – on that note, he has all the credentials needed to shine at Selhurst Park, a place where many lost footballers have found themselves over the years, such as Yannick Bolasie.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen this summer.
