Moyes's Jarrod Bowen injury comments have been completely lost in translation

West Ham United manager David Moyes provided an injury update on Jarrod Bowen yesterday evening.

Jarrod Bowen picked up the injury during West Ham United’s victory over Wolves at the weekend, and David Moyes responded to questions about the setback yesterday.

The 27-year-old forward has been our most important player so far this season, and Mohammed Kudus recently predicted that his teammate will get even better over the next few years.

It’s no exaggeration to suggest that if Bowen is unavailable for a sustained period of time, then our season could well be over.

The former Hull City attacker is integral to everything good that we do, and I’m absolutely gutted that he won’t be available for tonight’s Europa League clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

It was actually reported by none other than the club’s official website that Bowen had twisted his knee during our 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday.

However, it appears as though Moyes’s comments on Jarrod’s injury yesterday were completely lost in translation…

David Moyes comments on Jarrod Bowen injury have been misunderstood

The Scot looked visibly frustrated when he addressed the awaiting media during his pre-match press conference last night.

Losing Bowen to injury was arguably the biggest blow we possibly could have been dealt heading into tonight’s game.

However, it appears as though there was some confusion regarding what Moyes actually said about Jarrod…

Here’s exactly what he said, via West Ham Football:

“He’s got an injury and not available to play. I won’t be giving any dates of when we’re going to get him back. I’m getting told, when he got the knee in his back, he’s twisted and probably damaged a little bit of something around the hip. It’s like what the fast bowlers get when they bowl the ball fast, with the rotation. That’s where the damage has come.”

So there you have it, it’s nothing to do with Jarrod’s knee, but rather the knee that he got in the side of his body, or just above his hip.

However, it is unclear as to whether that’s a better scenario for the 27-year-old than a twisted knee or not.

That said, depending on the severity of the knee sprain, it could take up to 8 weeks to heal (Miracle Rehab Clinic), so maybe it is good news that that’s not the injury he’s suffered.

What is clear is that the Moyes update on the Bowen injury was completely misunderstood by numerous media outlets. Now it just remains to be seen how long the former Hull City man is actually out for.
