'He's back': Sean Dyche confirms 22-year-old Everton star is fit to face Chelsea on Monday

Sean Dyche has confirmed that one of his key Everton stars will be fit to face Chelsea on Monday evening.

The Toffees head to the capital looking for back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time in 2024.

Everton are now 16th in the league standings after being docked two further points by the authorities on Monday. Luton Town, who occupy the final relation berth, sit just two points adrift of Dyche’s side.

The 52-year-old has been talking in his pre-match press conference and has revealed that one of his key men will be available at Stamford Bridge.

Amadou Onana missed the Toffees’ 1-0 win over Burnley on Saturday but has now returned to full training.

The Belgian has started 20 matches this season and has proven to be an essential part of Dyche’s midfield.

“He’s back training [Onana]. He’s been training today,” Dyche told the media in his pre-match conference.

“Jimmy Garner got a knock today, but we are happy it’s just a knock. Dominic [Calvert-Lewin] trained today but we are pretty positive with him settling down over the next couple of days. We are just having to watch the players going forward.

“He [Calvert-Lewin] has a minor niggly hamstring going forward. We are just being ultra-careful with it; he thinks he’s on top of it.”

What is Everton’s record like at Chelsea?

Everton’s recent record against Chelsea actually makes for pretty good reading.

After beating the West Londoners earlier in the season at Goodison Park, the Toffees are looking to complete a rare league double over the hosts.

In fact, Everton haven’t lost to Chelsea in nearly two years. Their last defeat came early in the 2022/23 season, with Chelsea running out 1-0 winners.

The Burnley victory must be used as a springboard moving forward. It was scrappy, but it could be precisely what was required to get the Toffees’ season back on track.
