‘Huge’: Danny Murphy has now dropped a big claim ahead of Man City vs Real Madrid

Danny Murphy has made a big claim regarding Manchester City’s upcoming Champions League match against Real Madrid.

On Tuesday, the Citizens walked away from the Santiago Bernabeu with a 3-3 draw in their first-leg quarter-final match against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

The Blues found themselves 1-0 up in the first couple of minutes thanks to a clever free-kick from Bernardo Silva.

At halftime, Pep Guardiola’s side were 2-1 down after conceding two quick goals. After then getting themselves back in front with goals from Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol, Federico Valverde scored the final goal of the match to snatch the victory away from the Citizens.

Now though, one pundit has shared his thoughts on how the game went and made a big claim in regards to the second leg.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy had this to say about Tuesday’s game and who he thinks is the favourite

He said: “You’re talking about, for me, the two best teams in Europe coming together too soon.

“The quality on show, incredible. So much creativity, pace, confidence. You can’t dominate a team that has that much quality in it, both ways.

“I actually thought when City got the first goal, this could be, whoa. They got a bit of luck with the deflections to get back in it, Madrid, but after that it was just incredible to watch, just waiting for what was going to happen next.

“When you actually look at it, to get 3-3 there, without [Kyle] Walker, without [Kevin] De Bruyne, huge result. You’ve got to fancy them now, City at home, fancy them massively.”

Can Man City beat Real Madrid in the second leg?

At the end of the 90 minutes in Madrid, City had 62% possession in total and had 12 attempts at goal, with six being on target.

As a team, they earned themselves an overall rating of 6.95/10 from SofaScore, which was higher than the 6.76/10 rating Real were given for their collective efforts.

With that in mind and how City weren’t at full strength, as Murphy mentioned, it’s easy to see why the pundit reckons the Blues will be the favourites to beat the Spanish side next week and seal a place in the semi-finals.
