Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has now shared his honest verdict on Ange Postecoglou’s future at the club.

Hugo Lloris is now seven games into his new life at Los Angeles FC, but appears to be keeping a close eye on his former side.

Ange Postecoglou heads into this weekend’s tough trip to Newcastle United in fourth position, having made haste of Aston Villa’s draw with Brentford.

Spurs have a game in hand on their Champions League rivals, which will be needed when looking at the fixtures the club have coming up.

Despite leaving behind their own title aspirations pretty early in the season, Tottenham will still have a huge say in who wins the league, given they still play all three of the top sides again.

Spurs fans have already begun to playfully suggest the second-string teams Postecoglou should field against Manchester City and Liverpool, designed to scupper Arsenal’s chances.

That being said, Hugo Lloris did make a reference to the club’s recent results when speaking in an interview with BBC Sport.

Hugo Lloris believes Ange Postecoglou has done brilliantly to change things so quickly at Tottenham

Former Tottenham captain Lloris spoke about how quickly Postecoglou had managed to change things at the club, and praised the Spurs boss despite his decision to replace him.

And despite some mixed results over the past few months, Lloris thought there was sufficient reason to believe the future was ‘bright’.

He explained: “I believe there is a good future at Spurs.

“They are building something important and there is a lot of credit to give to Ange, because as a coach to change the dynamic of a club in the short time is just a huge impact and I’m not worried about some results because at the end I believe in the way they play and believe in the players they have got in the squad and probably it can be a bright future.

“I wish them the best and to be in the Champions League next season and to reduce the gap to the best teams in the country and Europe.”

Of course, it does feel as if this summer’s transfer window will be crucial to the continuation of the progress under Postecoglou.

Fortunately the Tottenham manager does seem to have a very productive relationship with Daniel Levy.

And that will be important given the club could face ‘fierce competition’ to sign one of their targets this summer.
