Report: Man City could yet sign £100k-a-week France U21 star Micah Richards thinks is 'going to the very top'

Manchester City could reignite their interest in a previous transfer target ahead of the summer window, a new report has claimed.

Manchester City are set to make changes to their squad this summer, as Pep Guardiola prepares to enter the final year of his contract as boss at the Etihad Stadium.

It is widely expected that Lucas Paqueta will be one player coming in. City tried to sign him last summer, but walked away from a deal as an investigation into suspicious betting was opened

It has been reported that Paqueta will not be found guilty of any wrongdoing. Earlier this week, it was claimed that Paqueta and City have actually already reached an agreement over personal terms.

But City could also make a fresh attempt to sign another player they were strongly linked with last summer, as they were with Paqueta.

It has been reported by the Independent today that City are looking at a few players ahead of the summer.

Paqueta is one, Jamal Musiala is another, and it is also mentioned that Michael Olise could well be of interest again.

Last summer, City were strongly linked with Olise, and he was being billed as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who had left the club to join Saudi club Al Ahli.

In the end though, a move didn’t happen and Olise ended up signing a new contract at Crystal Palace.

But this seemingly hasn’t put City off, with the Independent suggesting the club remain interested in the winger, who is now thought to earn around £100,000 per week at Selhurst Park.

It is stated by the publication that City want two players who can fluidly play in a few areas of the forward line.

Olise would be an exciting signing

So City seemingly still hold an interest in France U21 star Olise, despite him penning fresh terms at Selhurst Park last year.

It would really be an exciting move by the club to land him, because Olise has serious potential. This season, he has had hamstring problems limiting him to just 12 appearances.

But across those 12 appearances, he managed to score six goals and make three assists.

Bernardo Silva could well finally leave the club this summer, with Barcelona planning to make a proposal to sign him for the value of his release clause.

If that departure did happen, then Pep would need a new right-sided option and Olise has spent most of his time in Palace colours playing out on the right.

Micah Richards said recently that he feels Olise is ‘going to the very top’, and City surely don’t want this player going to a rival if Bernardo does indeed deport.
