'Not happy': Inter Miami player left fuming after what happened vs Monterrey last night

Inter Miami defender Marcelo Weigandt has let out his anger over last night’s CONCACAF Champions Cup loss to CF Monterrey.

The Herons lost 3-1 in Mexico to crash out of North America’s premier club competition, with Inter Miami missing out on the chance to win another major piece of silverware and a ticket to next year’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Whilst the likes of Lionel Messi won praise from Monterrey players and staff, it was overall a frustrating night for Inter Miami, who would have expected to go further in the Champions Cup given how good Tata Martino’s squad is.

And post-match, defender Weigandt let his feelings known about the result.

Speaking to Fox Sports MX, Weigandt was physically angry with how Inter Miami exited the Champions Cup, with the former Boca Juniors star not happy with the result or the performance on the night from the Herons.

Indeed, as the newest signing on Inter Miami’s roster, it makes sense why Weigandt would be mad about how the Herons crashed out of this competition, which at this stage of the season is arguably the most important priority for the Florida franchise.

Weigandt said when asked to describe his feelings about Inter Miami losing to Monterrey and being knocked out of the Champions Cup: “I am not happy with this result.

“We will work again to overcome this defeat, but this competition is something we wanted to win, and being unable to beat Monterrey leaves me feeling angry with the defeat.”

Players have every right to be mad about Champions Cup exit

Inter Miami were arguably the favorites to go all the way in the Champions Cup this season given the amount of star power the Herons have at their disposal.

Yet like so many MLS teams before them, the Herons fell short due to the hand of a Liga MX side, who barring a Columbus Crew miracle will again lift the Champions Cup for a 39th time.

Indeed, MLS’s shortcoming have again been exposed against Mexican sides, and Inter Miami have every right to be mad with this latest defeat south of the border, especially with how good their squad is.
