Ange Postecoglou calls up 'tremendous' 21-year-old midfielder to Spurs training pre-Newcastle, he's a 'joy to watch'

Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to Newcastle United.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs will take on Eddie Howe’s Magpies in the day’s early kick-off at St James’ Park.

Tottenham have been in good form following the international break, picking up seven points from their last three games.

Spurs’ good results, combined with Aston Villa getting four points from their last three matches, has seen Postecoglou’s side go fourth.

Now, Tottenham will hope to make it four games unbeaten when they take on eighth-placed Newcastle.

Postecoglou has been putting his players through their paces in training ahead of the trip to Tyneside,

On Thursday, the Spurs media team shared footage of their latest session on their YouTube channel.

And at around 2 minutes 14 seconds in, one of the Tottenham academy’s brightest talents can be spotted taking part.

The player in question is Max Robson, who has been featuring regularly for Spurs’ Under-21s this season.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been spotted in senior training from time to time over the past few years.

Robson featured in some sessions under Antonio Conte, and Postecoglou also seems to be keen on him.

What is the playing style of Tottenham talent Max Robson?

Superhotspur wrote about the talented playmaker back in January and sung his praises.

“The player, who can also play up-front as a false-nine, or in central-midfield and out wide, is a player who loves to take players on for skill,” wrote the Spurs youth expert.

“Always looking to play the ball forward and be creative in possession, Robson’s off the ball pressing and overall work is consistently very good.”

Superhotspur continued: “A versatile but very talented and determined player on the pitch, Robson is fearless on the ball.

“But it’s his ability to get into really good pockets of space, which makes him so potent inside the penalty area.

“He also has very good reactions and can dribble with the ball at a good pace, as well. I’m a big fan of the CAM.

“And while he clearly has a tremendous work ethic on the pitch, his quality with the ball is excellent, and he’s a real joy to watch on the pitch.”

It’s great to see Postecoglou give Tottenham’s academy talents the opportunity to impress in, and learn from, first-team training sessions.

Robson looks like a top talent, so let’s hope we see more of him in and around the Spurs senior team, and perhaps even a debut.
