Exclusive: Arsenal and Chelsea watch Real Madrid target

Leny Yoro has emerged as one of the most talked about young players in Europe this season.

The Lille central defender was one of the big talking points ahead of Aston Villa’s Europa Conference League quarter-final clash with the French outfit.

Villa edged the opening leg of their last eight encounter with Ollie Watkins and John McGinn finding the back of the net in a 2-1 success in the Second City.

HITC understands a host of clubs from both England and Europe were in attendance, but it is understood that teenager Yoro was the centre of attention.

HITC can reveal that Arsenal and Chelsea were represented at Villa Park on Thursday to watch Yoro in action.

The English giants took the chance of Yoro being in England to further check on a player they have watched extensively this season.

The 18-year-old has emerged into Lille’s first-team this season is widely regarded as one of the best defensive prospects in world football.

His current deal expires in 2025 and Lille are trying to tie him down to a longer deal, but their resolve to keep him will be tested this summer and looks increasingly likely that he could be leaving.

Real Madrid leading chase for Yoro

As well as Arsenal and Chelsea, HITC understands that Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle have watched him closely this year.

HITC understands that Real Madrid are admirers of Yoro and it is believed the player likes the idea of a switch to the Spanish capital.

Madrid are in the market for a new central defender with Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite also someone who they appreciate.
