'Keep up the good work': Dem lawmaker praises MTG to her face as she sparks GOP chaos

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Friday earned praise from an unlikely source amid her repeated threats to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

Punchbowl News' Mica Soellner reported that Rep. Jonathan Jackson (D-IL) approached Greene on Friday and gave her a handshake.

"Keep up the good work," he told her.

However, it's not entirely clear that Jackson was explicitly praising the Georgia congresswoman for her efforts to kick Johnson out of his position and throw her party into even greater chaos.

According to Politico's Nicholas Wu, Jackson and Greene are "apparently friendly," which he says is "a rarity among Dems" for interactions with a lawmaker who once believed that many of them were part of a Satanic pedophile ring.

Greene has faced some significant internal criticism for her push to oust Johnson, as it would mark the second time in less than a year that House Republicans have kicked out their own party's speaker.

This hasn't stopped her from going on the warpath, however, as she seems particularly upset that Johnson would consider putting a bill on the floor that would send military aid to Ukraine, which she has portrayed as waging a war against Christianity.

Should Greene succeed in ousting Johnson, it could even lead to Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) taking over as speaker given the razor-thin Republican majority that has been battered by retirements, resignations and, in the case of former scandal-plagued Rep. George Santos (R-NY), outright expulsion.
