David Seaman predicts whether Liverpool will beat Crystal Palace after being thrashed last night

Liverpool are quickly having to turn their attention to domestic matters tomorrow after being thumped in Europe.

The Reds are reeling this weekend having been on the end of a terrible result against Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Few had predicted anything other than a Liverpool win at Anfield. However, not only were Jurgen Klopp’s team beaten, they were walloped. 3-0 and it could have been more.

Liverpool can’t be allowed to feel sorry for themselves, though. There’s a Premier League title to be won after all. This season can still turn into something special.

Thankfully, they’re back on home turf and will again be favourites to overturn a Palace side who aren’t really playing for all that much. With key players coming back from injury, you’d still fancy a Liverpool win. Thursday’s result could have an impact though, and David Seaman has now predicted the score-line.

David Seaman predicts Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

In this same fixture last season, Liverpool couldn’t get the better of Palace. Remarkably, that was almost two years ago now, in August 2022.

The 1-1 draw that day came off the back of a poor 2-2 stalemate against Fulham and signalled that the Reds might be in for a much trickier season than anyone had foreseen. Luis Diaz had to rescue a late point after Wilfried Zaha had opened the scoring.

This year, Liverpool are coming off a much worse result and need to pick themselves up quickly.

If they fail to beat Palace, it won’t be curtains for them in the title race. But it would likely mean that they were behind both Arsenal and Manchester City. It can’t happen.

Thankfully, former England goalkeeper Seaman has predicted that Liverpool won’t let it. Speaking on his Seaman Says podcast, the pundit backed the Reds to win 4-0.

Granted, his prediction came before last night’s horror show. But you’d hope that the pasting against Atalanta might even spur Liverpool on further.

Team news for Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

One of the very, very few positives against Atalanta was that Liverpool did not appear to pick up any fresh injury issues.

With the returns of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Stefan Bajcetic and Alisson Becker already confirmed, that puts them in good shape for Sunday.

Providing all four of that quartet are ready to go, Liverpool will actually have a full compliment of players, barring Thiago Alcantara.

As a result, there should be absolutely no excuse not to bounce back and beat Palace. Come on Liverpool, time to get back on track.
