‘Not been at his sharpest’: Chris Sutton says £34m Liverpool player has been really sloppy recently

Liverpool’s incredible form in 2024 has really slowed down as of late.

The Reds have faltered in recent weeks, and their run of poor form couldn’t have come at a worse possible time.

Indeed, Liverpool have started to show a bit of weakness as we enter the business end of the season, and a potential quadruple has now turned into an unlikely double.

As much as we hate to say it, Liverpool may come away from this season with just a Carabao Cup.

So, why have Liverpool struggled in recent weeks? Well, writing in his column for BBC Sport, Chris Sutton has highlighted one issue that Jurgen Klopp’s side have at the moment.

One issue Liverpool are facing right now

Sutton gave his verdict on Liverpool’s recent dip, and he noted that Mohamed Salah doesn’t look as sharp as he usually does.

“One issue for Jurgen Klopp’s side is that Mohamed Salah has not been at his sharpest since he has come back from injury – he has been missing chances that you expect him to put away.”

Mohamed Salah is struggling

Sutton is right, Salah isn’t playing his best football right now.

The Egyptian has been scoring the odd goal, but he’s rarely converting his chances at the moment, and his all-round game doesn’t seem to be as good as it usually is.

Of course, Salah operating at 75% of his best level is still better than most players in the Premier League operating at 100%, but just as Liverpool need to kick on, their star man has gone backwards ever so slightly.

Jurgen Klopp needs to find a way to get the £34m man firing again because his goals may well be the difference between winning the league and finishing behind either Arsenal or Manchester City.
