'Improving': Danny Murphy claims 22-year-old Tottenham player is getting so much better now

Danny Murphy has now been praising the improvement of one Tottenham Hotspur player following Sunday’s Nottingham Forest win.

Ange Postecoglou’s side didn’t exactly take the easy route to victory against Forest, but did eventually get the job done.

And whilst Tottenham should be celebrated for the amount of goal-scoring opportunities they are able to create, they certainly need to tighten up at the back.

Postecoglou’s brand of football can clearly be very successful in North London, but small tweaks need to be made.

Perhaps new signings in the summer transfer window could change things significantly.

Given how interchangeable his midfield has been of late, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Spurs boss decided to shell-out for a statement signing in the middle.

And judging by how successful Tottenham’s signings have been since Postecoglou arrived, there’s definitely good reason to back the manager.

That being said, Danny Murphy has now been detailing a huge change he’s noticed in Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson on the BBC’s Match of the Day 2.

Danny Murphy says Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson has much more than just pace

When analysing Tottenham’s win over Forest, Murphy thought Johnson looked so much more confident now, and said fans are really warming to him.

He explained: “Brennan Johnson is also looking really comfortable now. He is gaining confidence the more he is selected, the fans are taking to him now, he is getting some goals and his all round game is improving.

“He’s not just a runner, he’s not just quick, he’s got more about him.”

Of course, Johnson did represent a significant outlay for the club last summer, Postecoglou’s biggest signing to date.

And therefore fans will be pleased that the winger is now showing the kind of form which demands a start.

It didn’t seem likely that Spurs would head into any game this season with Dejan Kulusevski on the bench by choice, but such is the form of the Welshman and Timo Werner on the left it’s now happened twice in a row.

As stated, there’s certainly not any issues with creativity at Tottenham, but perhaps there just needs to be improvement at the back.

That being said, Gary Lineker noticed something very ‘weird’ about Tottenham’s win over Forest yesterday.
