According to the former CEO of AT&T, a meeting with Donald Trump over the threat posed by China to American telecom networks fell apart because the former president couldn't stop talking about adult film star Stormy Daniels.
As explained in a new book from the New York Times' David Sanger, Randall Stephenson recalled that he was brought to the Oval Office in 2019 to discuss the growing threat, but instead met with a distracted Trump who spent the first 45 minutes ranting about Daniels and male and female relations.
In Sanger's book, "New Cold Wars: China’s Rise, Russia’s Invasion, and America’s Struggle to Defend the West," which the Guardian obtained before its release, Stephenson said he made his appearance at the former president's request, only to hear a list of grievances before turning to the treason he was there, at which point Trump reportedly told him, "This is boring."

As reported in the book, Stephenson told Sanger: "Trump burned up the first 45 minutes of the meeting by riffing on how men got into trouble. t was all about women and private planes, he claimed. Then he went into a long diatribe about Stormy Daniels, the former porn star who claimed she had had an affair with him. It was ‘all part of the same stand-up comedy act’, Stephenson later recalled … and ‘we were left with 15 minutes to talk about Chinese infrastructure.’”
The executive admitted he "could see that the president’s mind was elsewhere," and made his escape after Trump's daughter Ivanka entered the room and the topic was changed.
The report comes just days before the former president will enter a Manhattan courtroom facing 34 felony counts related to paying "hush money" to the adult star before the 2016 presidential election.
