March Town and Racing Club Warwick to meet again in play-off semi-final

March Town will play today’s opponents Racing Club Warwick in their United Counties League Premier Division South Play-Off semi-final next Saturday.

Following today’s 1-1 draw in March, Racing Club finished second in the table and March slipped to fifth, meaning home advantage for the Warwickshire side.

The other semi-final will see third-place Aylestone Park entertain fourth-place St Neots. Whoever wins that tie would enjoy home advantage for the final should March be their opponents but be the away team should RC Warwick emerge victorious.

In today’s game, the first half was goalless, with Simeon Cobourne giving the Racers a 79th-minute lead. However, the Hares hit back through sub Matt Foy seven minutes later.

On Tuesday evening, March won 2-0 at Bugbrooke St Michaels with Daniel Simmonds scoring both goals.

On Wednesday, May 8 March play UCL Division One play-off chasers Blackstones in the final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup, at Yaxley.

Joe Reed takes a free kick for Wisbech at Heanor Town today

Wisbech Town finish the United Counties League Premier Division North season fourth from bottom after a disappointing 4-0 drubbing at Heanor Town.

The Fenmen were 3-0 down at the break and, even after the home side were reduced to ten men after a 53rd-minute sending-off, conceded again in the 81st minute, after which Alfie Wren was sin-binned.

Wisbech’s final game of the season sees them take on opposition a step higher in the non-league pyramid when they play Northern Premier League Midland Division strugglers Cambridge City at Ely City in the final of the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup on Tuesday, April 23.

In the Eastern Counties League First Division North, Parson Drove beat visiting Haverhill Borough 2-1 this afternoon, after losing 3-1 at home to Harwich & Parkeston on Wednesday. Callum Robinson and Adrian Bilicz were on target in the win, with Jack Prentice netting in the defeat.

Drove’s final two games of the season are both away, at Harwich & Parkeston next Saturday and at Leiston U23 the following weekend.
