The United Nations Security Council intends to hold a meeting today, April 14, due to Iran's missile strike on Israel, informs Reuters.
Earlier, Israel requested the Security Council to condemn Iran's attack and declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. The approximate meeting time is 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, said a diplomat on Saturday on condition of anonymity.
Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, previously called on the Security Council to hold an emergency meeting.
"The Iranian attack is a serious threat to global peace and security and I expect the Council to use every means to take concrete action against Iran," Erdan said.
Iran's strike on Israel
Yesterday evening, April 13, Iran launched hundreds of drones toward Israeli territory, calling it a response to a missile strike on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus earlier this month.
After the start of the nighttime attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recorded a video address to the citizens of the country, stating that Israel is prepared for a direct attack from Iran and will respond in kind.
According to several sources, Iran launched over 200 drones and approximately 150 missiles toward Israeli territory.
