Steve Nicol has suggested that he has been particularly surprised by one Liverpool player this season, with him turning out to be incredible for the Reds.
It could still be an amazing final season at Anfield for Jürgen Klopp. Liverpool remain in the hunt for the Premier League title having already won the Carabao Cup.
Their Europa League hopes appear to be in tatters. However, perhaps there may be one final amazing comeback still in their locker.
Whoever takes over at Liverpool next year is getting a special group of players. Of course, several members of the squad are superstar names. But there are a few who have gone under the radar.
Certainly, few Liverpool fans had reason to get too excited about the deal to sign Wataru Endo towards the end of the last summer window.
The 31-year-old was hardly a household name before his arrival. Jürgen Klopp had to really convince the Liverpool hierarchy to sign Endo.

It is safe to say Klopp has been vindicated. Many of us have to admit that Endo has been such a better signing than we realised.
And speaking on ESPN, Nicol suggested that Endo has made himself invaluable to the Reds.
“The middle of the park, we’ve just signed Mac Allister and Szoboszlai. Endo’s turned out to be incredible. Just what you need, you need somebody who’s going to run around all day, tackle people, get the ball, and give it to Mac Allister, Szoboszlai or Salah or whoever,” he said.
Another Reds masterstroke
Of course, there are times when it probably frustrating for Liverpool supporters when the club often does not appear to compete for superstar names.
The likes of Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk were arguably the anomalies as they joined once already established as the very best in their respective positions.
But without players such as Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool would also not be what they have been in recent years.
Endo is another signing which fans, understandably, would have had concerns about. But the move has proved to be another masterstroke.
