£21m Tottenham player is happy to stay next season, doesn't want to go on loan - Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that a player who’s barely featured for Tottenham Hotspur this season doesn’t want to head out on loan.

While Ange Postecoglou has undoubtedly shifted the mood around Tottenham during his first 10 months at the club, not every player will be content with their playing time.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one player who has already admitted he isn’t happy with his current game time.

Barring Spurs’ mid-season injury crisis, the Aussie has used a fairly settled XI and it’s become apparent who has a long-term future at the club.

Oliver Skipp and Bryan Gil are two players in particular who are yet to get a run in the side under Postecoglou.

Journalist Alasdair Gold was even surprised when the latter remained at Tottenham beyond the January transfer window.

Bryan Gil happy to stay at Tottenham

Gil has barely featured for Spurs and many expected him to head out on loan mid-season.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, the Spaniard isn’t keen on yet another temporary switch away from north London after spells at Valencia and Sevilla.

Indeed, Gil will only consider ‘important’ offers this summer otherwise he is happy to remain at Tottenham.

How many minutes has Gil played for Tottenham this season?

With Postecoglou navigating a difficult period in November and December due to injuries, Gil had an opportunity to impress.

The Spaniard started two games on the bounce during this period against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

They remain the only games Gil has started this season, racking up 11 appearances and just 221 minutes of football in total.

Despite Gil’s willingness to stay at Spurs, it’s difficult to see him lasting beyond the summer.

It’s well known that Tottenham are looking to bolster their attack in the upcoming transfer window, which would lead to Gil falling even further down the pecking order.

He joined Spurs for a fee worth £21.6 million back in July 2021, with Erik Lamela going the other way to Sevilla.

Gill arrived with plenty of promise after an exciting spell in Spain but you get the impression that it may never work out at Tottenham for the forward.
