Mohammed Kudus has been absolutely sensational for West Ham United since David Moyes brought him to the club in the summer of 2023.
A simply unbelievable footballer who is unplayable on his day, Mohammed Kudus has already established himself as a vital player for West Ham boss David Moyes.
The 23-year-old has lit up the London Stadium on numerous occasions already this season.
Kudus’s recent goal against Freiburg was simply breathtaking. His teammate Vladimir Coufal admitted that he ‘couldn’t believe his eyes’ when he saw the Ghana international run the entire length of the field before scoring.
Meanwhile, another teammate of Kudus, this time Aaron Cresswell, suggested that the left-footed superstar in the making will continue to get better and better.
The former Ajax man was signed for the Hammers eight months ago for around £38 million (Sky Sports%20including%20add%2Dons.)).
He has gone on to bag an incredibly impressive 13 goals and four assists in 38 games for West Ham so far (Transfermarkt).
Kudus has been a real bright spark for us this year. But could he get even better? His latest comments seem to suggest that he most definitely could…
Mohammed Kudus tells David Moyes he wants to play in different position
The former Ajax star has left his manager in no doubt whatsoever where he should be playing for West Ham.
Kudus sat down for a wide-ranging interview with Sky Sports about all things football.
When asked what his best position is, the Ghanaian responded by saying:
“Like a number 10, attacking midfielder. That’s where I’ve played all my years since I was a kid. Recently, I’ve played on the wings or even as a striker sometimes but I’ve always been a midfielder.”
The dream here would be to keep Lucas Paqueta in the summer, and for Moyes to sign an elite centre-forward – someone like Ivan Toney.
Then, Kudus could slot in the number 10 role, with Jarrod Bowen out wide on the right – his best position.
The Ghanaian just seems wasted to me out on the left wing, and despite his obvious strengths when playing on the opposite side, I agree with him that the number 10 role is his best position.
His incredible footwork and tight ball control in and around the opposition’s penalty area could be absolutely deadly for us.
Will Moyes listen to Kudus though and play him in his self confessed best position? It remains to be seen, but if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t be the first time that the Scot’s stubbornness has got in the way of us improving as a team!
Pablo Fornals being shoehorned into the left wing role for the majority of Moyes’s tenure is a prime example of this. Let’s hope that Kudus doesn’t end up going the same way as the Spaniard.
