'Trump in 2019 did the same thing': Fox News host hits Nancy Mace with fact-check

Fox News/screen grab

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) was fact-checked by Fox News about former President Donald Trump's administration after she attacked Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

During a Sunday interview, Mace lashed out at Biden for what she said was a weak stance on Iran following attacks on Israel.

"Well, I mean, look, just a few weeks ago on March 13th, Joe Biden and his administration allowed a waiver of sanctions to the tune of $10 billion in cold, hard cash that would allow Iran to access that money in foreign banks, for example," Mace said.

"He's saying at the same time he supports Israel, he's doing things that then support Iran," she continued. "You can't have it both ways."

"Well, President Trump in 2019 did the same thing," Fox News host Eric Shawn countered. "He issued sanction waivers. Is the former president's administration to blame at all for Iranian strength?"

Mace, however, said Obama was more to blame for emboldening Iran.

"I look at the Obama-Biden administration and the poorly executed nuclear agreement," she said. "This is jihadism, and we've got to be very smart here, regardless of who's in charge, and I believe that we can resolve the global turmoil we're seeing today by getting Donald Trump back in the White House."

"I don't believe this would have happened under his leadership."

Shawn quickly fact-checked her.

"Well, there was an attack... when the former president took out Soleimani," Shawn said. "And you know, dozens of our military troops suffered brain injuries when Iran sent missiles into two air bases in Iraq."

Mace is supporting Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
