Ex-judge puts Trump on notice that he violated gag order by attacking Michael Cohen

Donald Trump recently violated his criminal gag order when he attacked Michael Cohen on social media, according to a former prosecutor and judge.

Carol Lam, a former U.S. attorney who also served as a judge in California, on Sunday appeared on MSNBC, where she was asked about the witnesses in Trump's upcoming hush money trial.

One of those witnesses is Michael Cohen, Trump's former attorney and "fixer" who is now testifying against the former president.

The host asked Lam about Trump's attack on Cohen, who the ex-president called a "disgraced attorney" and a "felon."

"Does that violate the gag order?" the host asked.

"I think it does technically violate the gag order," she replied. "The prosecution has been clear about who will be called as a witness and Michael Cohen is on the list."

However, it might be difficult for the judge to enforce the violation, according to the ex-judge.

"I think the judge has a little bit of a harder time with this one because Michael Cohen has been so publicly out there criticizing Donald Trump, very, very recently," she said. "So I think it is a little tougher for the judge to come down and punish Donald Trump for violating that gag order."

She added, "He is not a witness who is shying away from the cameras. So, we will have to see what the judge decides to do in this case."
