Special Liverpool youngster went under the radar last week, he’s knocking on Jurgen Klopp’s door

A youngster who has been labelled in a ‘special’ group by Jurgen Klopp has been going under the radar at Liverpool recently.

Liverpool have a lot of exciting young players coming through the ranks at the academy right now.

Already this season, we have seen the emergence of Jarell Quansah, and Conor Bradley – both of whom are now regular members of Liverpool’s first team.

But they are just the beginning of an exciting influx of talent. The likes of Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns have already followed after them.

They are not the only ones knocking on Jurgen Klopp’s door and making their moments count, either. There is another exciting young talent who is catching the eye just as much.

However, he has gone under the radar despite being brilliant last weekend.

What Lewis Koumas did last weekend for Liverpool

Lewis Koumas has been on Klopp’s radar since pre-season when the young Welsh youth international was called-up into the senior squad for camps to Austria and Asia.

Since then he has featured in just one match for Liverpool this season. Although that match was pretty memorable, with Koumas scoring on his senior debut against Southampton.

He followed that up with scoring on his Wales U21 debut against Lithuania as well a few weeks later.

But he also continues to catch the eye at academy level, and is very much knocking on Jurgen Klopp’s first team door again.

At U21 level for Liverpool Koumas has recently registered an assist in a 2-0 win over Manchester City, and played his role in a 3-0 victory over Manchester United last weekend.

Jayden Danns may have grabbed the headlines with his audacious goal in that game, but it was Koumas who did brilliantly to set it up. The Welsh youngster ran almost the entire length of United’s half and drove a brilliant ball into Danns.

Why Lewis Koumas has a bright future at Liverpool

Koumas is the son of Jason, who played for the likes of Wigan and West Brom at the height of his career.

Like his father, Koumas has a brilliant low centre of gravity and he is exceptional in one vs one situations. He showed that on his debut game for Liverpool’s senior side.

Physically, he still has room to develop, but that is only natural given he is just 18-years-old. There is a reason why Jurgen Klopp grouped him among a ‘special’ trio of Liverpool youngsters recently.
