Pro wrestling fans get more than they bargained for in Thatcham match spectacle

Pro wrestling fans in Thatcham got a little more than they bargained for at the weekend.

Spectators packed out Kennet School on Saturday to see veteran Doug Williams keep order.

But Williams – a multiple time world tag team champion and two-time champion of the world famous TNA Wrestling X-Division - got a little bit more involved in the match than fans expected.

He was there to ensure a clean match as WWE NXT star ‘The English Lion’ Eddie Ryan and fan favourite Saime Sahin took on Tiger Ali and British Kingdom Pro Heavyweight champion Chris Bronson.

But he interfered to help the cocky duo of Chris Bronson and Tiger Ali secure the victory over fan favourites ‘The English’ Eddie Ryan and Saime Sahin in the tag team main event.

When the referee was distracted, Williams slid into the ring and hit Saime Sahin with a steel chair, before helping Bronson make the cover for the win.

Amidst a chorus of boos from the very upset Thatcham crowd, Williams took to the microphone to explain his actions.

He said he’d been so impressed by Chris Bronson that he’d decided to become his mentor.

But fans went away happy, as it was announced that Saime will get his chance for revenge when he faces Bronson in a no disqualification match when British Kingdom Pro Wrestling returns to Thatcham.
