'Type of player you want': Pochettino says he loves working with 'amazing' Chelsea defender after Everton win

Despite their league position, Chelsea have a lot of talent in their squad.

That was clear to see last night after Chelsea put six past Everton in their 6-0 win against the Toffees at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer once again stole the headlines, scoring a perfect hat-trick and then a penalty.

It took his tally of Premier League goals to 20. No one in the division has more than the 21-year-old.

Alfie Gilchrist also had a night to remember, scoring his first goal for the club. Jamie Carragher said he loved the way the Chelsea youngster celebrated.

Mauricio Pochettino praises Chelsea defender after Everton win

Chelsea have a lot of talented defenders in their squad.

When Reece James and Ben Chilwell are both fit, they are excellent full-backs.

Mauricio Pochettino does not have bad options in central defence either, having the likes of Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi to call upon.

Gilchrist can play in both of those positions and Pochettino has now hailed him as an “amazing guy”.

Following the thrashing of Everton, the Argentine told Chelsea’s official website: “He’s an amazing guy in the way that he works, he is always available. He’s the type of player you want in the squad.”

Mauricio Pochettino not happy with every Chelsea player

While Pochettino is clearly delighted with Gilchrist right now, there are a couple of Chelsea players who left him fuming last night.

Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke fought with each other and then with Palmer over a penalty before the England international eventually took it and scored.

Pochettino has now warned Jackson, Madueke and the rest of the Chelsea team that he will not accept an incident like that happening ever again.

It is good to see the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur boss stamping his authority. With the club fighting for a Europa League spot, now is not the time for the silliness Jackson and Madueke showed yesterday.
