Moises Caicedo Transfer

Chelsea signed Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo for a British-record fee of £115m on an eight-year contract. The Blues paid an initial £100m, plus £15m in performance-related add-ons.

There was also an option of a further year in Caicedo’s contract and Brighton will have a sell-on clause that was described as “significant” as part of the deal.

Arriving for a record fee was quite daunting for the Ecuadorian – but he since found his feet. He reflected on this in March 2024:

“At first it was difficult for me,” Caicedo told ESPN Argentina. “I wasn’t enjoying it because I felt a little pressure because of what I cost and because the team hasn’t done well. Now I’m doing it, I think in this second part of the Premier League, I’m doing it, I’m enjoying it.

“It is very important for a player to do his job and enjoy it because that is what he works for. I have been working in every training session since I arrived with a smile, enjoying it, and now I can tell you that in every game I feel more confident, helping the team and I feel happy.”
