’Tore the visitors to shreds’: BBC pundit says one Man City player was on fire against Luton Town

BBC pundit Garth Crooks has highlighted one Manchester City player who caused absolute havoc against Luton Town on Saturday.

In their previous Premier League outing, the Citizens beat Rob Edwards’ side 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

With the latest round of Premier League fixtures now over, one pundit has been sharing his praise for this weekend’s top individual performers, with one specific City figure getting a special mention.

In his latest Team of the Week column shared on the BBC Sport website, Crooks had this to say about Jeremy Doku and what he did against Luton.

He said: “Unfortunately for the Hatters, Jeremy Doku almost single-handedly tore the visitors to shreds.”

Looking back over the win against the Bedfordshire side, the winger scored one goal, delivered one assist and won the penalty that Erling Haaland scored to put City 3-0 up.

The Belgian had 87 touches of the ball in total across the 90 minutes and was able to accurately complete 53 of the 55 passes he attempted, leaving him with a passing accuracy percentage of 96%, the joint-second-highest in the City team.

Doku also managed to successfully complete six of the 11 dribbles he attempted and had six shots at goal in total, three of which were blocked, two were off-target and one was on target, which led to him putting his side 4-1 up.

This display ultimately earned the 21-year-old an impressive overall match rating of 9.6/10 from SofaScore, making him the highest-rated player in Pep Guardiola’s side on the day.

Taking all of that into account, it’s easy to see why Crooks was so impressed with what he saw from Doku and chose to put him in his Team of the Week.

Looking ahead to the remainder of what could still be a very successful season for the Blues, if the winger can continue to deliver top performances when he’s called upon, he could be a key factor in potentially seeing City win even more trophies.
