Former Liverpool player explains what Jurgen Klopp used to do that was ‘unbelievable.’

Former Liverpool player Nuri Sahin has been talking about his former boss and what Jurgen Klopp used to do that was ‘unbelievable.’

Perhaps one of the simultaneously most disappointing and most talented player Liverpool ever signed was Nuri Sahin.

The Turkish international could do everything with the ball. He was technically a phenomenal player who Jurgen Klopp made into a world-class star at Borussia Dortmund.

At Real Madrid, things may not have turned out in the way Sahin will have wanted but many players have struggled in the past under Jose Mourinho, including Mohamed Salah.

Sahin’s big break was supposed to be at Liverpool. In flashes he showed a lot of exciting things during his brief spell at the club. But he was never able to win Brendan Rodgers over and left after just six months,

Nuri Sahin on Jurgen Klopp and what he did that was ‘unbelievable’

Undoubtedly, like many players, Nuri Sahin’s best time was under Jurgen Klopp. Sahin worked with the Liverpool manager for around three years during the formative years of his career.

Under Klopp, Sahin blossomed into one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga, and lifted the league title with the club before earning a lucrative move to Real Madrid.

Now, in an interview with Sky Sports, Sahin has reflected back on his career, and has explained the one thing Klopp did that was ‘unbelievable.’

“Jurgen was unbelievable at it [man management],” Sahin said.

“He never spoke to you as a football player. He always spoke to you as a human being. I had that message on the wall of my office to remind me that I am not a coach of a football player, I am the coach of a human being.

“To be honest, I also had coaches where the man-management was not the best. I never want the players to feel how I felt sometimes.”

What is Nuri Sahin about to these days?

Since retiring from football, Sahin has turned to management. He was the head coach of Antalyaspor in Turkey’s top flight for over two years before joining Borussia Dortmund as an assistant manager.

Now he is learning his trade alongside Edin Terzic and hoping to make sure Dortmund qualify for the Champions League next season.

As a player, Sahin worked with Klopp, Mourinho and Thomas Tuchel. He’s making impressive strides now in his managerial career, and it’s great to see.

He’s definitely one to keep an eye on as an exciting young manager in world football at the moment.
