Alan Shearer shares why Man City have a big advantage in the Premier League title race

Alan Shearer has highlighted one reason why Manchester City have an advantage in the Premier League title race.

As things stand, the Citizens are two points ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal at the top of the table after they beat Luton Town on Saturday and their two title rivals lost on Sunday.

With just six league games left to play before the campaign ends, one pundit and former top-flight player, who knows what it takes to win the title in such a tight race, has pinpointed one factor that could be vital for Pep Guardiola’s side in this latest chase to be crowned English champions.

In a recent column shared on the BBC Sport website, Shearer had this to say about the title race and what advantage City have in it.

He said: “Sunday’s results show what this pressure can do to you, and it is why I have stuck with Manchester City in the past few weeks whenever I’ve been asked who I think will win the Premier League. I am not going to change my mind now.

“Out of the three teams at the top City have the most experience of this scenario and they not only know what to expect, they also know how to deal with it when it happens.”

Man City know what it takes to win a title race

Over the past six seasons, the Blues have won five Premier League titles, two of which were won on the final day of the campaign.

In fact, Guardiola’s side have a record when it comes to having a strong start to their season in terms of winning games in title run-ins.

This makes it understandable why Shearer thinks this experience the City players have of delivering in key moments when a title is on the line could help them this time around.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, the Citizens will be taking on Brighton & Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest, Wolves, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United for their final few games and will need to win all of them to make sure they make history and become the first side to win four Premier League titles in a row.
