'I'm sure': Pundit confident Arsenal will sell 25-year-old that admitted he is 'suffering' under Mikel Arteta

In the summer, Arsenal are going to have to sell players in order to make space for new arrivals and give The Gunners some room in terms of Financial Fairplay. Some fringe players will be allowed to go.

A recent report said that Arsenal are choosing to cash in on Eddie Nketiah this summer, in order to ease their position within Financial Fairplay rules. He is unlikely to be the only one that leaves The Gunners.

The likes of Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith-Rowe, Kieran Tierney and plenty more could find themselves on the chopping block. Like Tierney, those out on loan are unlikely to have much of a future at The Emirates.

Another that can be added to that list of course, is Aaron Ramsdale. The England goalkeeper has been relegated to back-up after the arrival of David Raya, without doing too much wrong in an Arsenal shirt.

That decision, made by Mikel Arteta, was controversial – and one that Ramsdale admitted had hurt him and left him “suffering” earlier in the season. He is expected to be on his way come the summer window.

Newcastle United are among the clubs that are said to be looking at the former Sheffield United and Bournemouth stopper. Indeed, reports claim Ramsdale would be keen on a move to Eddie Howe’s side.

There is a decision to make for Ramsdale this summer, with it being unlikely he stays put at The Emirates as cover for Raya. Brad Friedel has told Sky Sports that he is “sure” Ramsdale will leave Arsenal soon.

Brad Friedel expects Ramsdale to leave Arsenal, explains why…

“Listen, there’s going to come a time where they are going to have to let Ramsdale go. If Raya is the long-term number one, they’ll have to let Ramsdale go. I think the stats back Arsenal’s faith in Raya,” he said.

“That’s fine, but Ramsdale is too good to be sitting on the bench. ‘He should be playing somewhere and I’m sure he’ll be able to find a place to go. They’re two very, very talented goalkeepers,” Friedel continued.

Premier League clubs should be looking at Ramsdale. There is every chance he could win a move that are in Europe next term. Chelsea have also been linked, while Newcastle would be a solid move for Ramsdale.

It is unclear how much Arsenal will want for him, a player they bought for £30m – that starred in his first two seasons, but has since warmed the bench. A similar fee might be required in the summer window.
