Journalist says there are four Man City players he's not certain will be staying this summer

Manchester City journalist Simon Bajkowski has named four current players in Pep Guardiola’s who could be leaving the club in the summer.

The previous summer transfer window saw numerous players leave the club on permanent deals such as Ilkay Gundogan and Cole Palmer.

Now though, even though the season hasn’t ended yet and City are still on the hunt to regain their three titles from the last campaign, one journalist has shed some light on the likelihood of what the next transfer window could look like for a number of figures currently at the club.

In a recent online Q&A on the Manchester Evening News website, Bajkowski said this on the topic of what the upcoming summer transfer window could look like for City.

He said: “Phil Foden will obviously still be there but can you say the same about [Bernardo] Silva, [Kevin] De Bruyne, [Matheus] Nunes and [Mateo] Kovacic? I don’t think any is 100 per cent so midfield will be a big part of City’s summer.”

Could Man City see a big name leave the club in the summer?

Out of the four players Bajkowski mentioned in terms of not being 100% certain to stay for next season, De Bruyne has been at the club for the longest after he arrived back in 2015, then followed by Silva who joined City in 2017.

Back in February, it was reported that only an offer of £80m or more would tempt City into considering selling De Bruyne, who has garnered transfer interest from Saudi Arabia in the past months.

Then with Silva, he has been heavily linked with a move away from the Manchester club in previous summer windows, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona reportedly eager to sign him.

As for Nunes and Kovacic, they only became City players during the previous summer transfer window, which would make a potential exit this time around rather surprising.

While the main focus for everyone at the club at the moment will be to win the three trophies that are currently on the line, we feel that based on what Bajkowski has said, the next summer transfer window could well end up being a very interesting one.
