'Very good' – Man Utd star sends warning to teammates over 'tough' opponents, he insists he is ready

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has warned his teammates not to underestimate one team after naming a “tough” match his side face this season.

The Red Devils’ latest outing saw Erik ten Hag’s men secure a 2-2 Premier League draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Manchester United are unlikely to challenge for the Premier League top four now, having dropped crucial points in their last five league matches this season.

The Red Devils are currently seventh in the league table and United are 13 points adrift of fourth-place Aston Villa in the race for Champions League football.

Despite their current predicament in the league, United still remain in the FA Cup and could still punch their place in the final in May at Wembley.

Erik ten Hag has faced mounting pressure this season over United’s up-and-down season, but the Dutchman could still close out the campaign with major silverware.

Onana on ‘tough’ Man Utd match

Andre Onana weathered early criticism in his Old Trafford career after the Manchester United star faced mounting pressure over his mistakes.

The 28-year-old Cameroonian reunited with Erik ten Hag at United last summer – having worked with him at Ajax – after he was signed from Inter Milan.

Onana, who was signed in a deal worth £47.2m, succeeded United legend David de Gea between the sticks after the Spaniard left the club at the end of last season.

United face Championship side Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday at Wembley, with Manchester City facing Chelsea in the other semi-final clash.

Onana has insisted that United must not underestimate Coventry City and the Championship team will be a “tough” test for the Red Devils at Wembley.

Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, he said: “It’s very exciting.

“But as I’ve always said: playing for this beautiful club, you must win. It’s a semi-final, of course; we are going there to win.

“It’s a very good opponent and this game is going to be tough, but we are Manchester United, so we must be there ready for them.”

Onana on Italy to Manchester

Onana has settled in at Old Trafford after his early mistakes in the Champions League earlier this season, with the United star impressing at times for his side.

The Cameroon international, who was a key part of Inter Milan’s Champions League run last season, has revealed that he has enjoyed his time in Manchester so far.

“Manchester? It’s a nice city, people are nice here,” Onana said.

“I feel welcome here; people treat me very good here.

“Of course, I was in Milan last season and the season before I was in Amsterdam. I had a great time there, and we achieved a lot of big things together, but I’m very happy to be here.”
