Southwell Croquet Club are inviting people to come and try the sport.

The session will run from 2-4pm.

Anyone interested can contact the Club Secretary, Linda, on 077 0227 7703 or by email southwellcroquetclub@gmail.com.

“We are a small and friendly Club with three half-sized lawns,” said club secretary Linda Hamilton.

“There is no special equipment needed to get started as we provide everything you need.

“However, flat-soled shoes must be worn so there is no damage to the surface of the lawns.

“We normally meet on Tuesdays and Saturdays but once you are a member you can use the lawns anytime they are not in use.

“All of our beginners learn Golf Croquet to start which is easy to learn and after just two 90 minute coaching sessions, players are ready to play with existing members where they will pick up more hints and tips on strategy and general game play.

“Once you have mastered Golf Croquet you might like to try your hand at Association Croquet.

“This is a more complicated game but once again coaching is available.

“Croquet can be played by all levels of fitness as it provides non-strenuous exercise and an effective low-intensity workout and it’s a sociable activity.

“It is suitable for all, combining both mental and physical skills.

“Come and have a go and meet some of our friendly members.”
