'Honestly': Pep Guardiola shares what Man City have to do to beat Real Madrid tonight

Pep Guardiola has revealed what Manchester City must do to beat Real Madrid on Wednesday.

While Arsenal’s trip to the Allianz Arena to face Bayern Munich will generate worldwide interest, it is fair to say that it is not the biggest tie of the round.

The contest between Manchester City and Real Madrid would be as the game is a final of sorts and as Bernardo Silva rightly stated that the teams in question are two of the best in the world in his interview with TNT Sports.

Usually, big games of this nature tend to be quite cagey.

Such was the case when City drew 0-0 to Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium this season.

Both teams seemingly look like they are too afraid to lose and as a result, a lack of risk-taking in attack becomes prevalent.

Despite much of the build-up being focused on the attacking players ahead of such games.

However, this theory was not proven correct during the clash of the titans at the Santiago Bernabeu last Tuesday.

Manchester City and Real Madrid seemed like they were ready to risk it all and stamp their authority as the superior team on the night.

Also, the other team’s quality made it difficult for either side to dominate for large spells.

Bernardo Silva revealed that it is “difficult” to face Real Madrid for two reasons.

Firstly, because if a team has too attacking an approach against them, they could get killed on the break, as per City’s number 20.

But simultaneously, it is tough to hurt Carlo Ancelotti’s side if a team does not send several players to attack against them.

Ahead of the mouthwatering second leg of the Champions League quarter-final, Pep Guardiola told TNT Sports what Manchester City must do to defeat Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium.

“Honestly, we have to do better than [in] Madrid if we want to go through. We were fantastic, incredible result, the guys gave everything but we have to adjust something that was not as good as we should do and at home, we feel comfortable, we’re trying to adjust it”, he said.

Hard to disagree with Pep Guardiola

In our view, Pep Guardiola is correct as Real Madrid remain a perpetual danger in Europe and the only way Manchester City can conquer them is by putting in a better display than at the Bernabeu.

Los Merengues are renowned for capitalising when teams give them a chance to dominate and much like last season, City must minimise the prospects of that occurring as much as possible.

Of course, that would be easier said than done against a team like the Spanish giants.

But Pep Guardiola must drill this message into his Manchester City players ahead of the game against Real Madrid.

If they adhere to Guardiola’s message, yet another special night could unfold at the Etihad Stadium.
