'This guy makes you relax': ESPN pundit claims watching 21-year-old Chelsea player puts him at ease

Chelsea have some really cool players in their squad.

Instantly, you think of the likes of Enzo Fernandez in midfield, one of the Blues’ most expensive ever signings, and Levi Colwill, who can pass out from the back.

Then there is, of course, Cole Palmer, who has not missed a single penalty for Chelsea this season.

He scored one again on Monday, which took his goal tally in the Premier League to 20.

It is fair to say, then, that Mauricio Pochettino has some calm and composed individuals in his Chelsea squad.

Chelsea star making Steve Nicol relax

Steve Nicol spoke on ESPN FC after Chelsea’s 6-0 win against Everton on Monday.

It was probably their best performance of the season. It was certainly Palmer’s after the England international bagged four goals.

Nicol has now claimed that watching Palmer play actually relaxes him.

On the 21-year-old, he said: “When certain players get the ball, you sit on the edge of your chair. This guy makes you relax. He does the opposite to me.

“Whenever he gets it, I relax because I know that he isn’t losing it. Maybe he’s going to score, he’s maybe going to nutmeg somebody, but you know he’s going to do something good and you know it’s going to work. He relaxes you!”

Cole Palmer vs Manchester City

Pochettino will need to see more coolness from Palmer when Chelsea take on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday.

It will be a high-pressure game and one that could obviously go to penalties, with Palmer certain to take one if the match goes that far.

With the amount of penalties Chelsea have been awarded this season, it would not be a surprise if the former City star got one in normal time.

Whatever happens on Saturday, this will go down as an incredible campaign for Palmer. Since leaving the Etihad for Stamford Bridge, he has made 38 appearances and come up with 36 goal contributions.

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton now thinks he is in contention to win the Premier League Player of the Season award.
