N.J. man tried luring children using online chat app ‘Kik,’ cops say

A New Jersey man has been charged with attempting to lure children for sex on social media app, authorities said.

Brian Stewart, of Clifton, posed as “Brian Being Brian” on Kik, a popular instant messaging application and attempted to lure two children to Boonton Township for sex, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

Stewart, 41, is charged with luring, attempted aggravated sexual assault, attempted endangering the welfare of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said.

Stewart was arrested and brought to the county’s jail. Attorney information for Stewart was not immediately available Wednesday.

Prosecutors said Stewart messaged both children between March 18 and March 24. The case remains under investigation, prosecutors said.
