7 injured in NJ Transit bus crash outside department store

Seven people were injured Thursday when their NJ Transit bus crashed into a street light behind a South Jersey department store, police said.

Six of those people, including the bus driver, were taken to area hospitals for their injuries, according to police in Egg Harbor Township, where the wreck happened off Black Horse Pike about 10 p.m.

Police said the driver, 40, was cited for careless driving.

The crash occurred behind the Boscov’s department store at the Harbor Square Complex, the site of the former Shore Mall, police said. The bus was driving through the parking lot after stopping for passengers at a pick-up area near the store.

An update on the conditions of those who were hurt was not released Friday.
