The Celtic title advantage over Rangers pointed out amid former player prediction

Celtic now know the path they will need to navigate to claim Scottish Premiership glory under Brendan Rodgers.

In a frantic campaign, the Bhoys have found themselves eight points in front, five points behind and a variety of places in between, though they hold a four-point advantage in the league standings for now.

Later on tonight, Rangers take on Dundee away from home, which may cut the gap down to a solitary point if they secure three points, though we will need to wait and see what transpires during the much-anticipated fixture.

Nevertheless, Rodgers coined the term ‘this is where Celtic comes alive’ during his post-match press conference after our 3-0 victory over St Mirren last weekend, setting the backdrop for an exciting end to the campaign [Scottish Sun].

Following yesterday’s announcement of the post-split fixtures, the Hoops will head to Dundee on Sunday, April 26th, before facing mammoth back-to-back home clashes against Heart of Midlothian and Rangers on May 4th and May 11th.

With our fate under internal control, Celtic then travel to face Kilmarnock on the penultimate matchday of the campaign on Wednesday, 15th May.

Last but by no means least, St Mirren visit Parkhead on Saturday, May 18th, at 12.30 pm, which could well be the day we find out if our efforts over the season are enough to win the Scottish Premiership title.

Rodgers has a number of players in the ranks who have been over the course previously, and that has to count for something in the season’s final stretch.

Celtic title advantage pointed out as Brendan Rodgers seeks glory

Amid our pursuit of Scottish Premiership glory, it does help that the man at the helm, Rodgers, has won two titles at the club already during his managerial career.

The season later, the Irishman departed for Leicester City in February 2019, though the chances are he would’ve managed to guide the Bhoys past an under-par Rangers outfit at that time had he stayed on until May.

Despite this, a core of our squad has been there and worn the T-shirt in relation to claiming league glory; meanwhile, established senior men Callum McGregor and James Forrest have a combined trophy haul as long as your arm.

Speaking to the Go Radio Football Show, former Celtic man Andy Walker shares this sentiment, claiming that their ‘experience’ under pressure could be pivotal to getting over the finish line.

Walker stated: “I think Celtic will maybe edge it with experience, they’ve been over the course before and that can be crucial.

“I think we’ve seen that in the last week or so, with the Celtic vs Rangers game at Ibrox, and Rangers up at Ross County.”

Celtic need to harness their title-winning experience

Experience can be crucial in these situations, that much is clear. Regardless, we have dropped points on nine occasions this term, providing lessons to be learned from our form earlier this season.

On a different token, Celtic have a track record of turning up where it matters, which can only bode well as the pressure mounts on both sides in Glasgow.

According to Rodgers, Celtic come alive at this point in the season, so hopefully, we can see his words bear fruit on the pitch!
