How Gabriel Jesus reacted to Man City getting knocked out by Real Madrid in the Champions League last night

Gabriel Jesus was caught by cameras watching Manchester City get knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.

Jesus’ Arsenal team were also eliminated from the competition on Wednesday night.

After drawing 2-2 to Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta’s side lost 1-0 at the Allianz Arena, losing 3-2 on aggregate over both legs.

City’s defeat to Real Madrid was even narrower as they lost 4-3 on penalties, with Antonio Rudiger scoring the decisive spot-kick to send the visitors through to the semi-finals at the Etihad Stadium.

After Kevin De Bruyne’s late equaliser against Real Madrid, Manchester City seemed destined to win the tie.

How Gabriel Jesus reacted to City losing to Real Madrid

Sadly, for the Sky Blues, a shortcoming of theirs in the Champions League in previous seasons came back to haunt them again.

And that was their lack of ruthlessness in front of goal.

Kevin De Bruyne had the chance to settle the tie after Manuel Akanji played an inch-perfect cutback to him inside the box.

However, the £54.5 million man skied his attempt uncharacteristically.

Later on, Bernardo Silva played a perfect cross into Phil Foden’s path.

In an attempt to strike the ball first-time, Foden could not sort his feet out and the ball was eventually cleared away from the danger area.

Had the Englishman done so and tested Andriy Lunin, he likely would have scored from close quarters.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but Phil Foden perhaps should have taken a touch instead of trying to strike the ball first-time.

As the high-octane affair between Manchester City and Real Madrid went to penalties, Gabriel Jesus witnessed his former team get knocked out after Arsenal’s defeat to Bayern Munich, as shared by TNT Sports.

The Brazilian international saw the events unfold, turned away and walked off after the game came to an end.

Respectful reaction from Gabriel Jesus

Instead of being caught cheering on Real Madrid or even showing a hint of a smile after seeing his former club, Manchester City lose, he did not express much of a facial reaction.

Perhaps the decorated forward was upset in the first place because his Arsenal team had suffered the same fate.

But even so, Gabriel Jesus’ reaction came across as respectful after Manchester City suffered a painful defeat at the hands of Real Madrid, in our view.

Ultimately, Jesus had plenty of years to remember at the Etihad Stadium and for him to have reacted in any other manner than he did would have been out of order.
