'I wish': Bastian Schweinsteiger says he'd love someone like £378k-a-week Man City man at Bayern one day

Bastian Schweinsteiger has claimed that he would really someone like a certain figure at Manchester City to be at Bayern Munich in the future.

Times have certainly changed for City in that Bayern legends would love a figure at their club to work at the Allianz Arena.

Imagine that being stated two decades ago and it would create a stir amongst fans and pundits alike.

But the Sky Blues are a genuinely elite club, who operate at world-class levels in every respect and as a result, even a historic giant like the German team could be helped if they hired someone from their side.

Credit needs to be afforded to Manchester City’s hierarchy for how much they elevated their status as a club over the years.

For instance, at least when discussing players, there are plenty at the Etihad Stadium who would elevate this current Bayern team.

A name like Ruben Dias springs to mind, who could be an upgrade on all their centre-backs.

Dayot Upamecano and Eric Dier are quality players but they are prone to errors at the back while Kim Min-jae is struggling for playing time at the Allianz Arena.

In midfield, Aleksander Pavlovic has done brilliantly at the base of midfield but Rodri is arguably the best in the business in his role.

Even though Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer can do a job as defensive midfielders, the Spaniard would perhaps be their dream signing.

Similarly, Jamal Musiala is an exceptional attacking midfielder.

But Thomas Tuchel’s side would perhaps rather have a seasoned elite number 10 like Kevin De Bruyne in their ranks.

However, Bastian Schweinsteiger has admitted that he would be over the moon if Bayern Munich appointed a manager like Pep Guardiola one day.

“I would never say that Pep [Guardiola] was bad for Bayern Munich or something like this. He was actually amazing. I wish we would have a coach like him in Munich again”, he said about the £378,846-a-week on The Overlap.

Impossible to find a manager like Pep Guardiola

Perhaps every club legend, like Bastian Schweinsteiger is at Bayern would be overjoyed if their side hired a manager like Pep Guardiola.

However, there does not seem to be any coach in world football who looks like Guardiola’s second coming.

Mikel Arteta is often likened to the Manchester City boss but he still has loads to achieve, both in terms of winning trophies and tactically to be mentioned in the same breath.

The same can be said for the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto De Zerbi.

Guardiola is a once-in-a-lifetime manager and perhaps the sport may never have the privilege of seeing another coach quite like him for decades.
