Crystal Palace scouts just watched £12m target play, amid reports the Eagles are favourites to sign him

Crystal Palace seem to have their transfer priorities set as they’ve just watched one target live in action.

This summer is vitally important for Crystal Palace considering it’s the start of a brand new era, with a manager who we think can take the club to new heights.

Oliver Glasner is a terrific upgrade upon Roy Hodgson and even Patrick Vieira, in the sense that he has won silverware before in the form of a Europa League trophy.

To bring a manager of this level into the club, it’s fairly safe to assume that he’s been promised that he’ll be backed.

Well, it certainly seems like that is the case, with Eagles scouts watching one top target who was even wanted in January.

Let’s find out what’s happened…

Crystal Palace scouting Bright Osayi-Samuel

So the latest regarding Bright Osayi-Samuel to Crystal Palace is yet another exciting development which shows that interest in the 26-year-old remains ahead of the summer.

According to Scouts in Attendance on X, Palace had scouts at Fenerbahce’s 3-2 loss against Olympiakos in the Conference League last Thursday.

In the game, Osayi-Samuel played the full 90 minutes and is likely the subject of the Eagles scouting trip considering he’s long been a target.

It was even reported back in December on Christmas Eve that Palace were leading the race to sign the “outstanding” winger/full-back.

With a reported price tag of just £12m, he’s a no-brainer signing to reinforce the wingback position and to provide competition for Daniel Munoz who cost just £7m in January.

Signing Osayi-Samuel makes a lot more sense now than it did in January

While he’s clearly a talented footballer, it raised eyebrows when it was reported that he was a target in January.

Primarily an attack-minded right-back/wing-back, he was never a player who’d seamlessly fit into a Hodgson line-up.

But now with Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 formation, that wing-back role would be perfect, but the only problem is Munoz.

With a big sale, however, Glasner could see having two quality options for that position as a blessing rather than a curse.

This makes an Osayi-Samuel deal even more likely than it seemed in January, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see this come off.
