Arsenal have now decided to submit a bid for an inverted full-back likened to Joao Cancelo.
This area of the pitch appeared to be a strength rather than a weakness for Mikel Arteta following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko in 2022.

Arsenal decide to make bid for Ferdi Kadıoğlu
Well – according to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, who boasts over a million followers on X – Arsenal will make a bid to sign Ferdi Kadıoğlu from Fenerbahce this summer.
It is said that Arsenal scout Romain Poirot watched the Turkey international take on Olympiacos in the UEFA Conference League last week, and was left impressed by what he saw.
So impressed, that the Frenchman has even managed to tempt Arteta and Edu to make a bid for Kadıoğlu at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Sabuncuoğlu did not reveal how much the Gunners plan to bid, although a story from Turkish news outlet Sabah states that Fenerbahce want €30m (£26m) to sell the 24-year-old this summer, so any offer would have to be close to this figure.
Kadıoğlu has made 44 appearances across all competitions for Fenerbahce so far this season, 36 of which have come as an inverted left-back.
In that time, the Fenerbahce No.7 has scored three goals while also providing four assists.
Edu could sign the new Joao Cancelo
Arsenal have previously tried to pinch Cancelo from Manchester City, but were met with a firm no by the Citizens – according to the Telegraph.
As a result, it seems Arteta and Edu are on the hunt for players similar to the Portugal international, as Kadıoğlu has actually been compared to the man currently on loan at Barcelona.
It was Breaking The Lines who made this comparison.
In a detailed scouting report on Kadıoğlu, it is said that the Turk plays just like Cancelo, through the fact that both operate on the left of defence, but tend to drift inside on their stronger right foot to great effect.
Eight of the Arsenal target’s 44 appearances this season have come on the right, so he is also a versatile figure.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Arsenal will – allegedly – bid for Kadıoğlu this summer.
