A former Manhattan prosecutor is baffled that Donald Trump didn't get a talking-to by the New York judge presiding over his falsification of business records criminal case over his social media activities that experts roundly say violated a tightened gag order.

Catherine Christian appearing on MSNBC's "The Beat" with Ari Melber was at a loss why the former president is being given a pass on his conduct by Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan.

"I don't quite frankly understand why Judge Merchan has not at a minimum admonished him, or reminded him, 'Sir, there's a gag order!'"

The 45th president may have once again violated his gag order set by Merchan by quoting a Fox News host's attack against potential jurors being seated in the case.

Trump used Truth Social to seemingly take an indirect swipe at the jury by posting a quote by Fox News host Jesse Watters stating: “They are catching undercover Liberal Activists lying to the Judge in order to get on the Trump Jury."

Christian believes this and several other incidents that occurred previously and compelled Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his team to seek a contempt hearing that is scheduled on April 23 — are clearly flouting the gag order he imposed that insulates witnesses, court staff, jurors, and the families of the prosecution and the judge.

"Donald Trump has violated the gag order," she said, adding that a hearing on this issue can't wait until next week. "To put off the hearing, I don't understand why it is."

"That gives Donald Trump the whole weekend to say, 'I guess I can keep doing this because the judge didn't say anything!'"
