‘Wants to leave’: 22-year-old Chelsea player has decided he wants permanent exit this summer - journalist

Journalist Patrick Berger has stated that one Chelsea player has decided he wants to leave the club this summer.

Hetook to Twitter to claim that the club are aware of his intentions to exit at the end of the season on a permanent basis.

The recent January transfer window was actually a quiet one as far as player sales went, with them only looking to loan players out for various reasons.

Other than Armando Broja’s seemingly pointless move down the road to Fulham, those who moved on seem to have found certain levels of success at their new home.

One of those who certainly has done so is Ian Maatsen over in Germany at Borussia Dortmund.

Ian Maatsen stars in the Champions League

The Dutchman has recently played a big part in helping his team reach the Champions League semi-finals, finding the net for the first time in the competition earlier this week.

Gametime was at a real premium during his time at Stamford Bridge this season, despite the fact he was one of the shining lights for Mauricio Pochettino in the pre-season tour.

With him being a regular in the Bundesliga, it is perhaps not surprising that Berger has reported that a permanent exit is very much on his agenda.

Ian Maatsen wants permanent Chelsea exit

He said: “Ian Maatsen (22) wants to leave Chelsea on a permanent deal in summer. According to our information Chelsea is already informed about his plan. The left-back (2 goals, 2 ass. for BVB) feels very comfortable in Dortmund and is keen to stay. Release clause: €35-40m.”

The Blues are reportedly keen to bring in another player in the left-back position at the end of the season, with Lewis Hall also set to make his move permanent this summer.

Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella are still with the club, however both have had their own problems with injuries this season and faced spells on the sidelines.

Alphonso Davies is one name who has been linked with the club, however it feels as if Real Madrid are best placed to secure a move for him.
