'Definitely': Micah Richards delivers his honest verdict on Jadon Sancho's display in Champions League quarter-final

Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho could end up having the last laugh this season after Borussia Dortmund made the Champions League semi-finals.

Sancho, a £73m signing for United back in 2021, has had a disastrous time since moving to Old Trafford but seems to have found his way a bit since going back to Dortmund.

The German side made it into the Champions League semis this week by seeing off Atletico Madrid.

In the end, Sancho didn’t have too much success in terms of attacking output.

However, he was still part of a winning team that is now three games away from European glory and come the end of May, could well be smiling.

Of course, Sancho’s drop in form and credit since moving to United has been massive. Whether one season doing half-decent with Dortmund can rescue his career in full, remains to be seen.

But speaking about Sancho’s performance this week, Micah Richards has admitted that he feels Sancho has done enough this week to show he’s turned some sort of corner.

Micah Richards shares verdict on Jadon Sancho after Borussia Dortmund reach Champions League semi-finals

Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, Richards got onto the subject of Sancho and his performance this week with Dortmund.

And Richards admitted it was nice to see the winger playing his part in a big win.

“Jadon Sancho, 18 months ago, would you think he would be playing semi-final of a Champions League? Probably not. I don’t think he played amazingly in the game, but he played really well for the team. It was good to see the turnaround, definitely,” Richards said.

Erik ten Hag needs to leave for turnaround to be complete

The comments here from Richards are a nice touch and he is right, it’s good to see Jadon Sancho doing his part for the team.

However, when it comes to a future at Manchester United, you’d have to say Sancho is going to struggle to have one if Erik ten Hag is still about.

Ten Hag had clearly had enough of Sancho’s ways and that is why the England international was sent on his way back to Dortmund.

So, while Sancho might be doing well enough in Germany and showing signs of him getting back to something near his best, his future in England is still up for debate.
