Report: Ruben Amorim could now stay in Lisbon; club president thinks he has an ace up his sleeve

Liverpool are searching for a new manager and it’s very much looking like Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim could be the guy.

With Jurgen Klopp leaving the club in the summer, FSG and Michael Edwards need to ensure they get the replacement bang on.

As it stands, it’s looking more and more like Amorim is going to be the man to replace him.

Reports today have suggested that Amorim is ready to leave Sporting and take the Liverpool job.

However, according to additional reports from Portugal today, all is not lost when it comes to Amorim actually staying in Lisbon.

Club president has plan to keep Ruben Amorim from joining Liverpool

According toO’Jogo, Sporting’s president Federico Varandas has not quite given up hope of keeping Amorim at the club.

It’s reported how the club president is hoping to be able to keep Amorim for at least one year.

O’Jogo claims that the idea of Sporting having Champions League football could be enough for Amorim to remain in Portugal.

If it’s not to be, then it’s suggested Liverpool will have to pay £20m for Amorim, with Sporting keen to ensure they get the maximum value if they are to lose their coach.

Lauded by Jamie Carragher as a ‘brilliant‘ coach, Amorim very much seems to be the number one choice for Liverpool.

Amorim to Liverpool looks done

Given the amount of reports coming out around Amorim and Liverpool in recent weeks, it would be seriously surprising to see Amorim not end up as Liverpool manager now.

Of course, the Sporting president will have his own reasons for feeling like he can keep Amorim.

But with the Liverpool job coming along and it not being something you can turn down too many times, it does feel like Amorim to Anfield will get done.

If it’s not to be Amorim, then you almost feel like a brand new search needs to start for the Reds.

And right now, that is not what the Reds fans want to hear.
