'Think he's someone': Theo Walcott shares what many are forgetting about one Manchester United star right now

Theo Walcott has shared what he believes many forget about Marcus Rashford as he was asked whether he would take the Manchester United forward in the England squad for Euro 2024 this summer.

Gareth Southgate is certainly not going to struggle for depth in Germany. England are blessed with so many unbelievable talents – and many are in outstanding form right now.

Just when you think Anthony Gordon is knocking on the door, Cole Palmer goes and scores a hat-trick. And while Ivan Toney perhaps ticks some of the same boxes as Harry Kane, you cannot deny that Ollie Watkins has been unbelievable in the Premier League this year.

One player however, who may be relying on Southgate’s loyalty to get into the squad is Marcus Rashford.

There is no question that this season has been a disappointment for the Manchester United star. Of course, he went into the campaign having scored 30 goals in all competitions last year.

This time around, Rashford has scored eight. Gary Neville has admitted to being worried about Rashford. And he may not be the only one.

The big plus for Rashford is his versatility. He can play as a striker or out on the left. So if Southgate decides that he simply cannot afford to take more than two number nines, Rashford’s chances of going this summer surely increase.

Theo Walcott suggests what many forget about Marcus Rashford

Theo Walcott was asked on talkSPORT about whether he would pick Rashford. And he insisted that the 26-year-old needs to be involved.

“Yes, I would. I think people forget what Rashford’s done in an England shirt, and for Man United,” he said.

“He has had some fantastic moments. On the big stage, that’s when your best players, you need to trust them and I think he’s someone who should be in the England team.”

Forward may now have just too much to do before the summer

Rashford has scored 17 goals in 60 games for England. Interestingly however, just three of his goals have come at major tournaments – with all of them coming in Qatar.

There are going to be some brutal decisions made by Southgate this summer. England really do have so much quality in those attacking areas of the field.

Interestingly, the Manchester United hierarchy are reportedly admirers of Southgate, and believe that he could really help Rashford. So there is definitely a strong relationship there.

But if Rashford continues to struggle, it is arguably going to be a huge gamble to include him in the ranks this summer.
