Tottenham fans react to what Jamie Carragher has now said about Spurs and Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to what Jamie Carragher has now said about Spurs and Arsenal.

It has been a positive first season so far for Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with vast improvements made on last season.

However, there is still a lot to be played for this season with Champions League football still on the cards for Tottenham.

But even Europa League football would be an improvement on last season with Antonio Conte unable to offer any European football.

However, the Sky Sports pundit has now been comparing the current Arsenal side to the high-flying Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino.

And Carragher has even sent out a warning to Mikel Arteta after what he has seen from Tottenham’s rivals recently.

What Jamie Carragher has now said about Tottenham and Arsenal

After a number of seasons where Tottenham had held the bragging rights in north London, Arsenal have shown some dominance.

For the second season in a row, Arsenal look set to finish above Tottenham as they currently sit second in the league.

However, they have not been able to turn their improved form under Arteta into any silverware since their FA Cup win early in his tenure.

Under Pochettino, Spurs were perhaps at their best in decades but they were unable to turn their dominance into trophies.

The season where Leicester City won the league will have left their scars on the club and Carragher has drawn similarities to what he is seeing at Arsenal.

Writing for The Telegraph, Carragher said: ‘Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are in danger of becoming Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs; a side to be admired for nearly being great.’

But that is a statement which has not gone down well Tottenham fans on social media with one saying, ‘Spurs got a champions league final. Rice is the the only player that gets in Spurs 16/17 team’.

Whilst another added, ‘Difference is, Poch would have won the league if he had 700m to spend in 4 years’. Continuing on the theme of money spent, someone else said, ‘A team that got past a Champions League quarter final after spending exactly £0? Different.’

It was apparent Spurs fans weren’t impressed with Carragher’s comments as one replied, ‘You mean Pochettinos team who were a young, aggressive unit who played great football? They bottled nothing!!!’

And one other fan said, ‘Difference is Poch had a shoestring budget and Arteta’s got everything he’s asked for’. Whilst another responded, ‘Pochetino’s Spurs team got to the champions league final on a zero net spend by the way… Arsenal have spent 700 mill to bottle’.

Dele Alli has now admitted what stopped Tottenham winning the league

A big part of Pochettino’s squad at the time was Dele Alli, the England midfielder established himself as one of the league’s most exciting players.

Spurs had a seriously exciting squad at the time with the likes of Dele, Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen all going forward.

However, it was apparent they were missing something and Dele thinks he knows just what that was.

“We felt as a team, players as and as manager we felt that we were just missing one more thing to really push us into title contenders every year,” he said.

We wanted to see the one more player come in who was going to really push us.”
