This valuation of 'frightening' Newcastle United player is absolutely laughable - opinion

Newcastle United could lose Bruno Guimaraes for £100million, but have another player who is worth even more.

And that is only because Bruno Guimaraes has a release clause in his contract. That makes Newcastle United vulnerable to losing the 26-year-old, but all signs point towards the midfielder staying at St James’ Park this summer.

Joelinton signing a new contract will help convince Bruno to remain where he is, while it has also been reported that he has bought a new £4million home in the area. That is a big indication of his intention to stay at Newcastle United.

Newcastle United must keep their star players

That will be music to the ears of Eddie Howe, who wants to keep his best players for the 2024/25 campaign.

That means retaining the services of Bruno, while it also means keeping Alexander Isak.

He is Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever at £63million, and is now proving why the Magpies were right to spend so much money on him. The 24-year-old is playing brilliantly right now, scoring 21 goals in all competitions this season.

Erling Haaland is the only Premier League striker who should be considered better than him, and Newcastle will count themselves lucky that they managed to snap up the super Swede before anyone else did.

Arsenal want to sign Alexander Isak

One of those clubs is Arsenal, as they were heavily linked with signing Isak before his move to Tyneside.

Now they are looking at him again, with Mikel Arteta a big fan of Newcastle’s number 14. It has been reported that Arsenal have scouted Isak a lot, but are aware that the Magpies do not plan to sell him.

However, the Guardian have reported that Isak is considered a primary target for Arsenal this summer, as they plan to bring in a striker.

That is understandable given their need for a prolific goalscorer, but the fee quoted in the Guardian is less understandable.

How much Alexander Isak could cost this summer

The same report from the Guardian has suggested how much Arsenal might have to pay Newcastle to bring Isak to the Emirates.

They state that he could cost around £100million, two years after his £63million move to the North East.

Isak is worth much more than that to Newcastle

That fee would make him Newcastle’s most expensive departure, and the most expensive striker in Premier League history. And even that is not enough!

There is no way that Newcastle should be selling Isak, who is ‘frightening’ in front of goal, for £100million – he is worth so much more than that.

He has got everything. He can score all types of goals, while he is of an age where he can still get better. For Arsenal, they will recognise that he is similar to their legend Thierry Henry, and they would certainly argue that Henry would be worth more than £100million in today’s game.

For Newcastle to even consider selling Isak, they would at least need to be offered double what they paid Real Sociedad in 2022. And even then, it still might not be enough.

The key thing for Newcastle is that they do not need to sell, nor are they in a position like they are with Bruno. Isak does not have a release clause, meaning Newcastle can resist any approach that comes their way.

And if Arsenal think they can land Isak for £100million, they can think again.
